About Our Pack

Pack 1259 is chartered by the Parents of Wells, Hughston, and Harrington Elementary schools. Pack 1259 is a member of the Chisholm Trail District, Circle 10 Council, and Scouts BSA. Cub Scouts is a part of Scouts BSA, which children will graduate into during their firth grade yar. We are open to everyone who shares the ideas of Cub Scouting.

PACK LEADERS

Every girl and boy deserves a trained leader. Scouts BSA believes this and so does Pack 1259. The pack has a training coordinator to oversee that all adults are up-to-date on their training. Every adult leader in Pack 1259 undergoes position-specific training from the Chisholm Trail District. Some adults also complete additional Cub Scout training in things such as camping, swimming, and first aid.

Scouts BSA has adopted a number of policies aimed at eliminating opportunities for abuse within the Scouting program. Some of these policies include two-deep leadership, no one-on-one contact, respect of privacy, and prohibiting hazing.

PACK MEETINGS

Pack meetings, Den meetings, and Parent meetings are held every month beginning in August and running through May. Unless otherwise specified, all meetings are hosted at the Wells Elementary School or Hughston Elementary School which provides us with tables, chairs, restrooms, and other amenities.

Pack Meetings are usually held once per month at 7:30pm on the second Tuesday of the month and include award ceremonies, rank advancements, den demonstrations, news and announcements, and other important information. These meetings usually last one hour. A parent meeting is usually held on the third Tuesday of the month at 8:00pm via Google Meets and last up to one hour.

COST

Pack 1259 knows activities for your children can be expensive. That’s why we try to keep costs low for all families. The pack pays for all awards, patches, and recognition the children earn. Minimal costs occur throughout the year and for summer activities. At this time, we do not charge den dues.

Annual dues for the Scout are $185. $85 is paid directly to Scouts BSA for the scouts national dues. The rest, $100, are paid to Pack 1259.

We highly encourage parents to join and play a role within the Pack Committee or another leadership position. All of our wonderful leaders in the pack are volunteers who can use help from time to time.

Class A Uniforms (the blue or tan uniform, depending on grade) may be purchased at the Scout Shop in Allen or online. First year cost is approximately $65 (shirt, required patches, neckerchief, neckerchief slide and handbook) and $20 each additional year (new year’s handbook, neckerchief and neckerchief slide). A pack t-shirt (class B uniform) is offered for free. Additional pack t-shirts can be purchased each year at $10 each. Additional official BSA uniform items (pants/shorts, hat, socks, etc.) may be purchased at the parent’s discretion.

We also keep a uniform closet that members can have any items for free.
